Devotional for April 25

Trust Anchors the Soul

18 Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;
19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
20 Our soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our shield.
21 For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.
22 Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee. Psalm 33:18-22 (KJV)

The Morning Exhortation

Change doesn’t come from remaining the same. To improve behavior, thoughts must be improved. To improve body composition, diet must be improved. To improve performance, training must be improved. Improvement by its very nature requires positive change. For all who want a better way to live, the good news of Jesus Christ has remained unchanged for over 2,000 years. Come as you are, but don’t try to stay as you are. (Hebrews 13:8; Luke 4:16-21; Matthew 11:28-30; Ezekiel 36:26-27; Luke 9:23-24; 2 Timothy 3:13; Matthew 12:43-45; Romans 6; Matthew 22:2-14; Revelation 3:14-22; Ephesians 4:22-30; Psalm 32:9; Proverbs 3:5-8; Matthew 7:7-13; Jude 24-25)

The Prayer Appointed for This Week

O God, who by the glorious resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light: Grant that I, who have been raised with him, may abide in his presence and rejoice in the hope of eternal glory; through Jesus Christ my Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be dominion and praise for ever and ever. Amen. The Book of Common Prayer
