Devotional for August 22

God Is Our Fortress

1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.
4 There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.
5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early. Psalm 46:1-5 (KJV)

The Morning Exhortation

We are only as strong as our faith. Faith is the inward working of divine power activated by the Word of God. Fully intend to be conformed to the Word, as you read through it, pray on it, work it in and work it out, and then pass it on as the new life becomes greater than the old. Ask for the needed grace of God for the mixing of faith with the knowledge of the Word. Everything not of faith is sin, and all the world is perishing because of sin. Faith is the victory that overcomes the world. Faith is not something we have from ourselves, it is a gift from God. God has a measure beyond measure that only faith can obtain. Let us arise! Washed by the Word and covered by the grace of God with the armor of the Spirit from the inside-out. Born to be more than conquers.
