Proclaim with Me the Greatness of the Lord
34 I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.
3 O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.
4 I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
5 They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.
6 This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
8 O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. Psalm 34:1-8 (KJV)
The Morning Exhortation
Our shortcomings can be ignored, rationalized, or acknowledged. Only one of these leads to victory. Examples of shortcomings are eating something we know we should not have eaten, saying something we know we should not have said, or doing something we know we should not have done. Such shortcomings are like the head, torso, and limbs of what the Bible calls “the body of this death.” Life in self is the problem and Christ is the only answer that leads to certain victory. To cover our shortcomings by ignoring or rationalizing, is to live in total bondage to the desires of self and to be cut off completely from Christ. To acknowledge our shortcomings, is to move in the direction of the victory that comes from being dead to self and alive in Christ. Take no backward step before reaching the tipping point were living some in self gives way to living more in Christ. First comes the blade, then the ear, and then the full corn in the ear.
