Precious Is the Steadfast Love of the Lord
5 Thy mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds.
6 Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O Lord, thou preservest man and beast.
7 How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.
8 They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.
9 For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.
10 O continue thy lovingkindness unto them that know thee; and thy righteousness to the upright in heart. Psalm 36:5-10 (KJV)
The Morning Exhortation
Ora et labor. Latin for pray and work. Pray because everything depends on God, and work like everything depends on you. These are not contradictory statements. They are merely opposite sides of the same profound truth. God gives and we receive. God, the Most High, is the only true sovereign and source of all. Therefore, everything depends on God. The grace of God is like a wind. Do we put up the sail and go to work, or do we take it in vain to power the wheels of our lusts? We are given the free choice, therefore everything depends on our response to the grace of God. (Philippians 2:12-14; 2 Corinthians 6:1-2; John 3:27; Revelation 2:18-29; 1 Corinthians 10:1-14; James 4:1-10; 2 Chronicles 16:11-12; Isaiah 50:10-11, 55:6-7; James 1:2-5; Matthew 7:7-8; James 5:13-20; Psalm 32:5-11; 1 Corinthians 16:13-14; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
