Devotional for November 24

Those Who Love the Lord

8 Zion heard, and was glad; and the daughters of Judah rejoiced because of thy judgments, O Lord.
9 For thou, Lord, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods.
10 Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.
11 Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.
12 Rejoice in the Lord, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. Psalm 97:8-12 (KJV)

Morning Exhortation

Ordinary prudence demands that in this modern age we do not neglect physical exercise. There are volumes of scientific evidence demonstrating the value of physical exercise, yet more valuable still is the exercise of the grace of faith that connects us to our divine power supply. Faith saves only because it connects us to our Redeemer. Christ our Redeemer is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Not because we feel this to be true, but because we choose to believe the report of this fact in the Holy Bible. Faith is the God ordained vital connection for the power of God working in us to enable our whole spirit, soul, and body to do His will. God is good. God is in control. God is our help and shield. When we have learned to trust God completely, worries and fears will flee like cockroaches suddenly caught out in the light.

The Prayer Appointed for This Week from the Book of Common Prayer

Almighty and everlasting God, whose will it is to restore all things in your well-beloved Son, the King of kings and Lord of lords: Mercifully grant that the peoples of the earth, divided and enslaved by sin, may be freed and brought together under his most gracious rule; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
