The Lord Will Bless His People With Peace
29 Give unto the Lord, O ye mighty, give unto the Lord glory and strength. 2 Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. 3 The voice of the Lord is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the Lord is upon many waters. 4 The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty. 5 The voice of the Lord breaketh the cedars; yea, the Lord breaketh the cedars of Lebanon. 6 He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn. 7 The voice of the Lord divideth the flames of fire. 8 The voice of the Lord shaketh the wilderness; the Lord shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh. 9 The voice of the Lord maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests: and in his temple doth every one speak of his glory. 10 The Lord sitteth upon the flood; yea, the Lord sitteth King for ever. 11 The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace. Psalm 29:1-11 (KJV)
The Morning Exhortation
What is sown is what will be reaped as a seed can only produce its kind. Ignorance of the type of seed sown doesn’t change this law. Such laws of nature are ordained by God. Examination of natural laws, which can be seen, are often useful to understand the unseen spiritual realities that frame the physical world. The Scientific Enlightenment of the 17th Century had nothing less than this as its chief aim until suffering the loss of God at its center in these more modern times of the last days. There is only darkness without God, but knowing about God is not enough. We must press on to actually know God through personal experience. This is the one thing needful. Pray for it, meditate on His word, seek to obey Him completely, and Christ has promised to reveal Himself to the one who waits on Him to do so. Keep sowing to the Spirit and you will surely reap the fruits of the Spirit in due season.
Question
How can we increase our inner peace?
Answer
Inner peace is like love, neither of which can be had without thinking about an object that produces these feelings (Scripture). If you want to feel love, focus on a loved one (Scripture). If you want to feel inner peace, focus on God (Scripture). Nurture the seed of inner peace with much time spent in silent prayer (Scripture), and this fruit of the Spirit will bloom even in the mists of this stormy world (Scripture).
The Prayer Appointed for This Week from the Book of Common Prayer
Let your continual mercy, O Lord, cleanse and defend your Church; and because it cannot continue in safety without your help, protect and govern it always by your goodness; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
