Rejoice In the Name of the Lord
5 And the heavens shall praise thy wonders, O Lord: thy faithfulness also in the congregation of the saints. 6 For who in the heaven can be compared unto the Lord? who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the Lord? 7 God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him. 8 O Lord God of hosts, who is a strong Lord like unto thee? or to thy faithfulness round about thee? 14 Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face. 15 Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O Lord, in the light of thy countenance. 16 In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted. 17 For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted. Psalm 89:5-8, 14-17 (KJV)
The Morning Exhortation
Fear and anxiety see crisis and problems, but faith sees only opportunity. As we rightly believe, so will it be done. This is a kingdom principle. Consider the finished work of Christ on the Cross. Complete healing is among those wonderful things that have been purchased for us by the precious blood of Christ. No longer do we have to live in bondage to self and sin. We have been crucified with Christ. We pick up our cross daily and willing bear the hundreds of endless opportunities to choose faith in God over worry. When we sanctify Jesus Christ as Lord and Master of our life, then the wicked ways of the flesh and this evil world will not be able to cling to us. Arise, appropriate the word of God by faith, walk in its light, and it will make you free.
Question
How do we handle the ever increasing uncertainty of life in this modern world?
Answer
Just as all is dark on the side of the moon turned away from the sun, all is dark when we are turned away from the Lord (Proverbs 4:19; Psalm 89:15, 119:130, 147:1). What the heart believes to be true and the mind imagines, the body will manifest (Romans 1:18-32). If the heart believes lying vanities(Jeremiah 17:9), the mind will be full of ill imaginations and reasonings set above the knowledge of God (Proverbs 4:20-23, 28:1, 3:5-8). Wrong beliefs based solely on the physical circumstances produces turmoil in the soul and the negative effects of stress on the body (Isaiah 59:1-9). The mind manifests fear, uncertainly, and doubt when we allow what we see to become larger than the God who is always with us (Isaiah 50:10-11; Jonah 2:8; Psalm 42:11). Lift and shift your attention to the Lord, remember your God and faith will allow you to enter into His rest of perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3-4; Deuteronomy 31:6-7; Hebrews 4:1-6; John 14:15-27; Matthew 28:19-20).
The Prayer Appointed for This Week from the Book of Common Prayer
Lord, make me have perpetual love and reverence for your holy Name, for you never fail to help and govern those whom you have set upon the sure foundation of your lovingkindness; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, fore ever and ever. Amen.
